Before you start: open a terminal

On macOS open Terminal; on Linux, your terminal app; on Windows, PowerShell. On Windows, check which shell you are in: the prompt shows "PS C:\" in PowerShell and just "C:\" in CMD. The Windows commands below are for PowerShell.
